The On The Water's Striper Cup

The 2008 On The Water's Striper Cup Tournament runs from May through September.

You don't need to weigh in a fish to win! Catch-and-release anglers will be able to have their catch recognized by filling out a release affidavit and receive a corresponding Pounders Club Pin.

Wal-Mart FLW Striper Series

In 2008 four one-day qualifying tournaments were scheduled, however 2 were cancelled. The Wall-Mart FLW Striper Series teams fish for top awards of up to $30,000 in each qualifier.

Each team of two to five anglers is allowed to weigh in two stripers ranging in size from 28 to 34 inches. The fish must be
kept alive in Striper Tubes or FLW Outdoors KeepAlive boxes, and later released.

The 2008 ASA Mercury Striper Tournament Trail consists of eight tournaments along the Atlantic Coast.

2008 Montauk Surf Fishing Classic

The 2008 tournament ran from September 26th through September 28th .

2008 Long Island South Shore Surf Fishing Classic

The 2008 tournament ran from October 17th through October 19th .

Hudson River Fishermen's Association - 2008 Liberty Striped Bass and Bluefish Derby

This tournament took place on May 10th.

2008 Striped Bass Results:
1st place - Thomas Facciola - 42.50 inch striper, released
2nd place - Dan Riley - 42.50 striper, released
3rd place - Chester Fabyanski - 41.75 inch striper, released
4th place - Jim Treval - 41,75 inch striper, released
5th place - Michael Lettieri - 41.5 inch striper

Chester Fabyanski caught the biggest bluefish - 39.75 inches.

7th Annual Hudson River Fishermen's Association Surf Fishing Tournament

This tournament was held at Seaside Park, NJ on Saturday November 1st, 2008.

There were over $2000 in prizes.

Mahattan Cup

On Friday, May 16, 2008, the Fishermen’s Conservation Association (FCA) celebrated its 10th Annual Manhattan Cup “catch and release" charity fishing tournament in New York City.

The largest striped bass caught and released was by Gary Sherman and Capt. Joe Mustati.

2008 Hi-Mar Striper Club Spring Striped Bass Tournament

This year's tournament was held on Sunday June 21st, 2008.

2008 Hi-Mar Striper Club 40 Hour Striped Bass Tournament

This year's tournament was held from the 24th, to the 26th of October, 2008.

2008 Spring Lake Live Liner Fishing Club - 17th Annual Striper Derby

The 2008 Surf Fishing Tournament will be held from April 1 to November 30.

2007 Results:
1st place: Chris Witt - 43 lb. striper
2nd and 3rd place tie: Jerry Taylor and Billy Bertsch - 40 lb. stripers.

1st Annual Riptide Surfcasters Tourney

This tourney, put on by the Riptide Surfcasters along with Riptide Bait and Tackle, was held on September 13th, 2008. This tourney was open to both individuals and teams, on the beach in Brigantine, NJ.

The tourney had a huge turn out. Team Surf-N-Land took first place, Fish Landers was second and Fishin Fuzz third. However the largest fish caught was an 18 inch bluefish.

2008 Berkeley Striper Club Fall Fishing Derby

This tournament runs from September 1 through December 31.

2008 Long Beach Island Surf Fishing Tournament

The 2008 tournament ran from October 11th to November 23rd.

Winners, Striped Bass:
1st - David Smith - 47lb. 7 oz., caught on bunker.
2nd - Gregory M. O'Connell - 47lb. 2 oz., caught on bunker.
3rd - Matt Onofrio - 46 lb. 3 oz., caught on herring.

Winners, Bluefish:
1st - Nick Sabatino - 16 lb. 3 oz. bluefish, caught on bunker.
2nd - Tom White - 16 lb. 3 oz. bluefish, caught on a plug.
3rd - David Spataro - 15 lb. 14 0z., caught on a plug.

2008 New Jersey Angler Magazine Classic Surf Fishing Tournament

The 2008 tournament was held on Saturday, May 17th, at Island Beach State Park, NJ.

Striped Bass Results:
William Sheppard - 16.03 lbs.
Brad Rodgers - 13.43 lbs.
Alex Zubko - 12.93 lbs.

Stripersurf.com beat out BassBarn.com in their "The Beating on the Beach" competition.

2008 NJ Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament at Island Beach State Park

The 2008 tournament was held on Sunday, October 5th.

The tournament was well attended, but the largest fish caught was a 21 inch fluke
caught by Richard Abdill.

3rd Annual Rockfish Derby

The Atlantic Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company, Virginia Eastern Shore, held it's 3rd Annual Rockfish Derby on December 6-7, 2008.

Derby winners were:
1st - Bradley Watson - 55lb 12oz
2nd - Frank Dannhauser - 52lb 9oz
3rd - Brandon Morgan - 43lb 9oz
4th - Mike Justice - 41lb 15oz
Youth - Jazmine Evans(8 years old) - 48lb 0oz

2008 Maryland Watermens Association 13th Annual Pro-Am Event

2008 Rock Hall's Rockfish Tournament took place on June 13,14,15, 2008.

2008 Winners:
1st place: William Kramer - 23 lbs. lbs.
2nd place: Brian Councell - 16lbs.
3rd place: William Libercci - 15 lbs.

William Kramer won the combined overall weight category with 40.12 lbs.

Charles Candon won a Ford F-150 in the drawing.

"The Fisherman" 2008 Dream Boat Fishing Challenge

This tournament is open to all subscibers to The Fisherman Magazine.
This tournament ran from April 1st to Nov. 30th.

Jim McSwigin won the Dreamboat drawing first prize Triton 225 Center Console Boat equipped with a Mercury 200 horsepower L-4 Verado motor.

Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout

The 7th Annual Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout was held from January 8th to 10th 2009, at Virginia Beach, Virginia. This tournament was also the 2009 ASA Series kickoff.
